ICRISAT is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with partners throughout the world. We are one of the 15 international agricultural research centers that are members of the CGIAR Consortium.
They seek a Director General to manage ICRISAT as Chief Executive Officer with responsibility to the Governing Board for the overall management of the Institute. Activities include policy setting, research planning, fundraising, budget development and allocation, as well as responsibility for global political and public relations both within and outside the CGIAR.
The successful candidate will meet most, if not all, of the following criteria:
• 20+ years of international R&D experience, including the application of research results to product delivery strategies for developing countries conditions.
• Demonstrated achievement and innovation as an agricultural scientist and administrator of scientific research in the Semi-Arid Tropics.
• 15+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including management of an organization or business unit in the public or private sector or academia.
• Successful experience of resource mobilization and effective communication with R&D and public and private sector investors and policy communities.
• Ph.D. in a field relevant to agricultural research for development.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. A working knowledge of French is highly desirable.
